The Inherently Challenged Site: Database Driven, High Graphic Content, Heavily Java Scripted Background on the issue Ideally we would utilize many, if not all, of the search engine optimization tips during our site development. After all, search engines love sites filled with relevant content. However, circumstances may make this impossible. Just a few of the reasons follow: Reasons Why Some Websites may not be "Friendly" to the Search Engines - Database Generated Website - A high degree of interaction with Internet surfers and the ability to allow them to select from large quantities of data or products make this type of site very desirable. Unfortunately, the search engine spiders only follow defined links and can be a little fussy about their format.
This might help - Place some pre-defined text links on your site that give the search engines a good example of the relevant content in your site. Be sure that your pre-defined links are *stand alone links. Another solution is to create a remote "Keyword Optimized Site Index Cluster." - High Graphic Content Website - In an effort to make the website match marketing materials, some web designers may choose to use graphics as a way to display their message to the Internet surfer. Though this practice gives the web designer maximum presentation flexibility, it typically spawns two significant problems. First: slow Website download times (many people still use dial up connections), and second is little or no content for the search engines to read, which means no relevant content.
This might help - Use a hybrid of graphics and text. Wherever possible, display text using standard HTML formatting. Additionally, make use of all the Alt Text tags on the graphics within the site. Another solution is to create a remote "Keyword Optimized Site Index Cluster." - Heavily Java Scripted Website - Many products are used to create websites. Some of those products do an outstanding job of offering the novice or experienced web designer an array of options to create a visually effective Internet presence. The goal of these products is to make creating a Website easy and to generate code (HTML or Java or combinations) that will display your site on a wide variety of browsers. The problem is that very little attention is given to Keyword Prominence, impacting search engine placement.
To determine if your site is Heavily Java Scripted, look at it the way a search engine spider would. From your web browser, select the "View" menu, then "Source or Page Source." You are now looking at the code that generates your site. Don't be concerned about the code you see; instead, slowly scroll down through the code until you see key words and text from your site. Did you have to scroll through a lot of code? If yes, then you may have a Keyword Prominence problem. This might help - Unfortunately, unless you are very skillful at html and java coding, there is little you can do, but all is not lost. You may want to consider creating a remote " Keyword Optimized Site Index Cluster."
*Stand alone Link - If the link is pasted in a new browser window, it will bring up all of your site information (not just a list of results)
